GMO and non-GMO
About 80% of the South African maize crop is GMO, and very few farmers supply certified non-GMO maize into the local market. We supply standard GMO white maize. Certified non-GMO lots are costly and hard to move, so we do not offer them as a standard product.
Where it is grown
Our own production sits around Vrede in the eastern Free State, managed by farming partner Konrad Mandig and the OGC field team. Partner farms across the province add volume in season. See the Vrede seasons.

Common questions
Is South African white maize GMO?
Most of it. Around 80% of the national crop is genetically modified. We supply standard GMO white maize; certified non-GMO is not a standard product.
What is the difference between WM1 and WM2 grade?
Grades are set by the percentage of defective kernels, foreign matter and other-colour maize. WM1 is the tightest specification and is preferred for milling. We supply WM1, WM2 and WM3.
Can you supply white maize meal as well as kernels?
Yes. Superfine white maize meal in 25 kg bags, milled in Hammanskraal, with a certificate of analysis on every load.
How is white maize priced in South Africa?
Off the JSE SAFEX white maize futures contract, with a location differential and transport added to reach your delivery point.
What is the minimum order?
There is no fixed minimum. We move product in bulk loads wherever possible; retail orders can be per pallet.
